The fifth and final chapter in this section is by Yu Zhenhua, a colleague of Yang Guorong. While Small and Sarafinas describe Yang’s uniqueness in terms of academic philosophy or comparative studies writ large, Yu looks specifically at Yang’s intellectual descent. He was trained in the lineage of Jin Yuelin and Feng Qi, two great modern Chinese philosophers, and his works can be understood against this background. First, Yu details major philosophical developments in China during the last century. He then (...) moves on to an outline of Yang’s major philosophical ideas, all the while placing them within the context of Jin’s and Feng’s theories. A main contribution of Yang’s “concrete metaphysics is that it attempts to grasp the Being of the world in connection with the existence of human beings.” However, “we may detect some elements of this approach in Jin and Feng, and concrete metaphysics represents a creative further development of those incipient ideas.” In this way Yang “blazes new paths” in unfolding the Jin-Feng lineage. Resumo: Diante do duplo impasse atual de “carnaval tecnológico” e “experiência superficial”, enfrentado pelos espaços de turismo cultural imersivo, este estudo propõe as seguintes contramedidas e sugestões: toma a “Unidade Corpo-Ambiente” como uma importante perspectiva ontológica e se centra nela, para realizar uma reconstrução profunda. Construindo um modelo analítico quadridimensional de “corporeidade-ambientalidade-interpenetrabilidade-criatividade”, isto serve tanto como complemento ao desprezo pela corporificação na teoria crítica espacial ocidental quanto como tradução desse conceito para aplicação prática. Este texto insiste, consistentemente, na reflexão teórica (...) sobre a “Unidade Corpo-Ambiente”, permanecendo vigilante contra seus riscos de romantização ou assimilação pelo capital. Finalmente, este trabalho argumenta que o design espacial deve ser uma “habitação existencial” que transcende o espetáculo tecnológico - uma fusão profunda entre humanidade e natureza. (shrink)

Blasting in water-conveyance tunnels that cross rivers is vital for the safety and stability of embankments. In this work, a tunnel project that crosses the Yellow River in the north district of the first-phase Eastern Line of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project was selected as the research object. A complex modeling and numerical simulation on embankment stability with regard to the blasting power of the tunnel was conducted using the professional finite difference software FLAC3D to disclose the relationships between the (...) blasting seismic waves with vibration velocity and embankment displacement under different excavation steps. Calculation results demonstrated that displacement generally attenuated from the tunnel wall to the internal structure of rocks under the effect of blasting seismic waves. The tunnel wall was in tension, and tensile stress gradually transformed into compressive stress with increased depth into the rocks. The curtain-grouting zone was mainly concentrated in the compressive zones. For different excavation steps, the vibration velocity at different feature points was high at the beginning of blasting and then gradually decreased. The resultant displacement was relatively small in the early excavation period and slowly increased as blasting progressed. The effects of different excavation steps on the safety of surrounding rocks and embankment under blasting seismic waves were simulated. We found that the blasting-induced vibration velocity was within the safe range of the code and that the calculated displacement was within the allowed range. Numerical simulation was feasible to assess the safety and stability of engineering projects. (shrink)

ObjectiveThis study aimed to investigate the morphometric alterations in the cortical and subcortical structures in multiple system atrophy patients with mild cognitive impairment, and to explore the association with cognitive deficits.MethodsA total of 45 MSA patients and 29 healthy controls were recruited. FreeSurfer software was used to analyze cortical thickness, and voxel-based morphometry was used to analyze the gray matter volumes. Cortical thickness and gray matter volume changes were correlated with cognitive scores.ResultsCompared to healthy controls, both MSA subgroups exhibited widespread (...) morphology alterations of brain structures in the fronto-temporal regions. Direct comparison of MSA-MCI and MSA-only patients showed volume reduction in the left superior and middle temporal gyrus, while cortical thinning was found in the left middle and inferior temporal gyrus in MSA-MCI patients. Cortical thinning in the left middle temporal gyrus correlated with cognitive assessment and disease duration.ConclusionStructural changes in the brain occur in MSA-MCI patients. The alteration of brain structure in the left temporal regions might be a biomarker of cognitive decline in MSA-MCI patients. (shrink)

Faced with increasing global environmental problems, organizational scholars and practitioners have increasingly considered how to promote employee pro-environmental behavior. This research seeks to expand our understanding of the facilitators of employee pro-environmental behavior from the perspective of leader expectations. Drawing on behavioral confirmation theory, we propose that leader pro-environmental expectations are expressed in active support for the environment, which subsequently facilitates employee pro-environmental behavior, thus rising to meet the leader's initial expectations. Furthermore, we argue that the above relationship becomes stronger (...) with the increase in employees' pro-environmental self-expectations. Based on data from 197 leader-employee dyads, the results of regression analysis showed that leader pro-environmental expectations are positively related to employee pro-environmental behavior via demonstrated leader support for the environment, and this indirect relationship is positively moderated by employee pro-environmental self-expectations. When an employee holds high pro-environmental expectations for himself or herself, a leader with high pro-environmental expectations will render support for the environment, which ultimately increases employee pro-environmental behavior. Our findings highlight the relevance of incorporating behavioral confirmation theory into the pro-environmental behavior literature and provide valuable insights for managers on how to effectively promote employee pro-environmental behavior.
